creative writing

for my creative writing piece I chose to go to a place where I feel the calmest , I sat in the stable with my horse and wrote exactly what was around me including sounds , noises and smells . its quite difficult to write everything down because there is so much going on but I did find this quite relaxing to do .

this was the automatic writing task , which i had originally thought would be easy but I later found out that it is quite a difficult thing to do to open your mind and write whatever came to it . this was quite unpleasant for me because I realised that sometimes there are things in our minds that aren’t so nice . once I shut my eyes and stated writing it became very clear that my insecurities in my appearance were the main thoughts going around which was very nice and I had to stop but when I looked at the paper I saw I had been writing over and over which I think shows the kind of thoughts that were there .

object writing .

for this project the object I chose was an empty wine bottle . I chose this because I felt that it was something that I could write well about because it was something personal . I had the idea for this from when I was in care and would write letters to my mum about how I was feeling and what was going on and keep them in a box . I wrote this in letter form and wrote about some of the bigger things in my life whilst also making sure I bought it back to the empty bottle to show the effect alcoholism has in peoples lives .

to make this I glued string in shape of a bottle but then made it curled up inside , this to me was to show that although you may look at a bottle and see it as just a bottle , within every glass the emptier the bottle gets the more damage it does .

this is the most important piece to me because by me putting my hand print on it ,it means that what I have written about will always be a part of me and a part of who I am today but also that I would not be who I am today without it ,and to show others that you don’t need to be ashamed and if you are going to let it change you to let it change you for the best .

textiles.

I made these pages because I had planned on experimenting with fabric and paint but unfortunately I didn’t have time to do so . I still wanted to be well presented so I used tape to stick the pictures down in order of how they were shown in the Alexander mqueen book.

for this page I wanted to make a statement page to really show the kind of vibe I felt when looking at this piece . I uses a clear sheet to cover the two pictures and then used a fan brush to put acrylic paint over the top , I love how dark and sinister it made this .

square,circle,triangle.

for this exercise we were asked to spend 5 minutes each quickly drawing squares, circles and triangles and then we had to pass it to the next person and this was repeated until the pages were full , we then folded it then started colouring it in . I enjoyed this exercise because I like working with clean and sharp shapes and also enjoy working with colour .

I really love working with collage and really liked how the shapes made this piece because although it is simple it is also eye catching , I don’t really think there is much more I could do with this but I could see this type of thing being useful in design aspects

with this we had to choose a letter from the title ‘on your marks ‘ but make it out of shapes to get ready for screen printing , unfortunately I didn’t get around to screen printing this particular design but I liked how the details came out and I am glad it is black and white because I feel that if it was in colour it would be way to much and wouldn’t be as effective . I would love to try this again in the future .

performative drawing .

for this excerise I used different fabrics and taped them together to create my own brush. my thought behind this is how I perceive noise and I feel like it came out well and the colours I used show how crazy noise can come across .

I used the same method for this painting but this time I wanted it to have a bit more structure to it so I used masking tape before I started painting and used black and red paint .

this is what I used to paint with ,it was a mixture of lace and curtain fabric it was great for a rough texture .

Introduce Yourself (Example Post)

This is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University. Enroll in one of our ten programs, and start your blog right.

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.

Why do this?

  • Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
  • Because it will help you focus you own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.

The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.

To help you get started, here are a few questions:

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
  • What topics do you think you’ll write about?
  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
